Me testing the hot punch I made and trying out the benchdog/holddown I also made.

Its oh so much fun using a timer and trying to run to pull the steel out of the forge and start punching the hole. Yeah fun .......rofl.

This also showes how my area is set up. I work out of what is to be very shortly my garage.

:iconipneto:
Well I have no idea how to make a tut, but I would be willing to. Although smithing is a bit to wide a range.
What books do you have?
What would you like to know?
What are you interested in making?
What smithing tools do you have?
I have found a group here in america that has helped me greatly with my learning. Maybee there is such a group around where you live.

I will gladly help in what way I can.

its a dutch book caus i live in belgium but translated its caled swordsmithing basic and begingns

i have a improvised smithing iron and al litle oven but i dont think it gets hot enouf
:iconipneto:
hmm. Well you could try to find 50dollar knife shop, backyard blacksmithing, or the craft of the japanese sword. All great books.

What was the smithing iron in its previous life?

Well there are some simple plans on line for making some propane forges or coal forges.

The thing to remember is even a campfire made with green wood can get hot enough as long as you have forced air. A simple hair dryer will be plenty enough otherwise there are plans on how to make old style bellows of the europeon type or the japanese kind.

There are some great tuturiols on anvilfire.com that you might want to check out including some on the basics of what to look for in an improvised anvil.
